In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), all information regarding the individual’s acquired accommodations and services, testing circumstances and grades are ONLY seen by the office staff and the student.

Students who are registered with Adaptive Services and who have a documented disability supporting a course substitution accommodation are eligible to petition the course substitution committee. Students who are granted a substitution may choose from an approved list of courses to fulfill the required general education mathematics or foreign language requirements.

Adaptive Services does not serve in a “Loco Parentis” nor a caretaker role. The student must accept full responsibility for meeting applicable university standards with regard to behavior, academic performance and autonomy. If the nature or severity of the disability changes, it is the student’s responsibility to notify Adaptive Services, Adaptive Services does not provide ongoing travel assistance. FGCU’s Student Government has shuttle services that provide transportation between the residence halls and main campus.
